Andrea Joyce MSc Lic Ac mAAC mBANT rCNHC

I’m a fully qualified and registered acupuncturist, nutritional therapy practitioner and nutritionist based in Warwick. Having experienced the positive benefits of acupuncture and nutritional therapy for chronic pain, menopausal symptoms, digestive issues, food sensitivities and histamine intolerance, I retrained so I can share my knowledge and support others in improving their health and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture (Lic Ac), three-year degree level included all aspects of Chinese Medical and Acupuncture theory, Western medical theory and a year working in supervised clinic.
  • MSc in Nutritional Therapy covering nutrition and lifestyle medicine
  • ION (Institute of Optimum Nutrition) – Cancer: nutritional support before, during and after treatment and beyond (NTEC accredited training and assessment)
  • Zest4life Health & Wellness Coaching Certificate
  • Accredited reflux practitioner (Digestion with Confidence), advanced training in managing reflux, both with and without prescribed medication.

Cancer Support

I’ve completed additional specialised post-qualification training required by BANT for working with clients affected by cancer, and to provide the best possible care, I stay up-to-date with ongoing training in this area. Nutritional therapy and/or acupuncture can offer valuable support to help you feel your best and improve your overall health and well-being, whether you are preparing for, undergoing, or recovering from treatments prescribed by your consultant. Nutritional therapy may help relieve cancer symptoms and minimise treatment side effects, while acupuncture may help alleviate side effects such as nausea and pain, as well as support relaxation. It’s important to remember, though, that these therapies are not intended as a treatment or remedy for the cancer itself. Before beginning nutritional therapy or acupuncture, I’d recommend discussing it with your medical team to ensure it aligns with your current treatment plan.

Professional Memberships

  • Association of Acupuncture Clinicians (AAC)
  • British Association of Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT)
  • Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)

I am also part of a nutrition support membership led by a highly qualified pharmacist and nutritionist, recognised as an expert in medication and supplement interactions, which provides specialised training and ongoing support.

Continous Professional Development (CPD)

I regularly attend seminars, lectures and workshops to update my skills and knowledge with the latest acupuncture and nutrition health news and research. As part of my BANT membership I complete a minimum of 30 hours CPD per year.

Some of the acupuncture CPD I have completed includes: auricular therapy (ear acupuncture), NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) ear acupuncture, cupping, trigger point acupuncture, mycotherapy (mushroom nutrition) and health testing.

Registrations, insurance and licensing

I work to both the AAC and BANT standards and professional guidelines, including BANT’s Code of Ethics and Practice and am compliant with relevant UK health and safety regulations. From a nutrition persepective I am regulated by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I am also registered with the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which regulates health and social care providers and is accountable to parliament. I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover and an inspection and license from Warwick District Council.
